These four parcels of land were purchased with an $8 million dollar bond paid off by taxpayers. There is another small piece in a wetland area that was donated that is not shown on this map.

If sold we no longer control what happens to this land – houses, truck stops, warehouses, semi-truck parking??? The taxpayers bought this land to keep it Open Space and save our community from the negative effects of development.

86 acres in Unincorporated Homer Township, could be annexed into Lockport. The northeast corner of Bruce Rd. and Gougar Rd. in Lockport. The Purdy Farm is the large parcel of land you see looking toward I-355 to the East. If sold we no longer control what happens to this land – houses, truck stops, warehouses, semi-parking??? The taxpayers bought this land to keep it Open Space and save our community from the negative effects of development.
50 Acres in the Village of Homer Glen 14858 S. Founders Crossing, Homer Glen (Address for navigational purposes only.) This will take you to the entrance of the Healing Garden. If you continue walking West through a slightly worn path it will lead you to the "Hero's Trail Bike Path". The land you view to the West of the bike path is the Welter Farm Open Space property. It is also adjacent to the south side of Golden Oak subdivision. This is the property that Homer Township Wanted to build a high density housing subdivision on, in violation of the State Statute for Open Space Property.
Is there a deal(s) in place already to sell this land? The Township worked out a deal behind closed doors before, so it could happen again. The taxpayers bought this land to keep it Open Space, not a high density subdivision.
50 Acres in Unincorporated Homer Township. The Township intends to annex this land into the Village of Homer Glen. 15800 W. 151st Street, Homer Glen (Address for navigational purposes only.) Parking available on both the north and south sides of 151st St. This property is not in Homer Glen or Lockport. It is an unincorporated property. The Trantina Farm is split by 151st street Trantina Farm North includes, Austin- Welter Barn, Silo, Granary, playground, picnic shelter and nature trail. Trantina Farm South includes a Dog Park, mowed trails for walking, the trail goes behind the dog park area.
Township officials are planning to add parking for 1500+ vehicles and build an event center that will compete with tax-paying businesses. Residents voted it was okay to build a pole barn there, not an Event Center and paving it over for a 1500+ car parking lot! This is not what was approved by the Annexation Agreement approved by Homer Glen. Homer Township also plan to annex this land into Homer Glen. Township officials gave the Village of Homer Glen their Homer Township parks, maybe they will give them this too once they get it built.
