Sale of Open Space FAQ

A number of claims have been made by officials and others recently, (Sept.-Oct. 2022) We want to set the record straight. These are our short answers to these questions with links to longer explanations.

No. The Illinois State Statute 60 ILCS 1/Art. 115 TOWNSHIP OPEN SPACE does not provide for the selling of Open Space land. It only contains language that allows the property to be leased. If State authorities do not enumerate powers to the Township, then they do not exist.
