Yes, he reneged on that promise. On May 11, 2022 Supervisor Balich spoke at the Homer Glen Village Board meeting and publicly stated “If there are two opposing sides and there is no way to judge what the people actually want the best thing to do is to go to a referendum.” He then posted an Agenda for a Special Homer Township Special Meeting May 19, 2022 which contained Item 5. Motion to approve Resolution HT2022-0519-RES1, a Resolution providing for and requiring the submission of a question of public policy concerning approval of the Homer Township Comprehensive Plan and the use of certain property located on what is known as Welter Farm, to appear on the ballot of the electors of Homer Township at the next regularly scheduled election.” Supervisor Balich pulled that item from the agenda and never submitted the question to voters. Instead, on September 12, 2022 without voter input the Homer Township Board voted to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Sale of the Welter Farm, the Paul Farm, and the Purdy Farm.
